Park Hyatt is headed to Portugal’s Alentejo coast, with a new hotel and branded residences planned for Comporta in 2029.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Portuguese developer Coporgest have signed agreements for the development, branding and operation of Park Hyatt Comporta and Park Hyatt Comporta Residences. The project will be the brand’s first in Portugal, landing in a destination known for its low-key beach houses, protected landscapes, and proximity to Lisbon.

Located less than an hour from Humberto Delgado Airport, the hotel is planned to include 58 guestrooms and suites, six two-bedroom private villas and 22 fully serviced residences. Plans also call for swimming pools, a wellness space and fitness center, a padel court, a kids’ club, and several restaurants.

The property will sit beside Troia Golf Course, an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed course overlooking the beach and the Arrábida Mountains. Four additional golf courses are within a 20-minute drive.

“This location for a Park Hyatt hotel feels like a perfect match,” said Tamara Lohan, Hyatt’s global brand leader for luxury, in a statement. “Comporta has a rare combination of relaxed beach living, protected nature and creative spirit, with a sense of calm that has remained wonderfully intact.”

The six villas and 22 apartments within the Park Hyatt Comporta Residences will be available for private ownership and integrated into the hotel’s operation, with access to its services and amenities. The broader Comporta Beach Resort development will also include 31 additional luxury villas and 49 apartments, which will be operated and marketed separately by Coporgest.

For Hyatt, the signing adds Portugal to its European Park Hyatt footprint, which already includes hotels in Paris, London, Milan, Vienna, Zurich, Marrakech, and Istanbul. It also arrives as the brand prepares for further openings in destinations including Phu Quoc and Riviera Maya in 2026, followed by Mexico City, Vancouver, and Taormina in 2027.
