The Pendry West Hollywood has officially rebranded as The Sun Rose West Hollywood, marking a new era for the 149-room luxury hotel set on the former site of the House of Blues. The rebrand, which became effective on Aug. 1, preserves the property’s relationship with Preferred Hotels & Resorts under its L.V.X. Collection.

The name “Sun Rose” isn’t entirely new—it originated with the hotel’s intimate live music venue, which has hosted the likes of Stevie Wonder, Halle Bailey, and Justin Timberlake. That space will now be known as Live at The Sun Rose, with award-winning music director Adam Blackstone taking on the newly created role of property-wide creative director.

Blackstone’s remit extends beyond booking musical acts; he will oversee the hotel’s artistic direction across wellness, dining, and design. “My vision is to amplify the cultural resonance of both the music venue and hotel, reimagining every facet of the guest experience,” said Blackstone.

The art deco–inflected interiors by Martin Brudnizki remain intact, as does Wolfgang Puck’s rooftop restaurant Merois and its Moët Bubbles Bar, a popular weekend activation. Rooftop movie nights and spa memberships will continue through early fall, appealing to local Angelenos as much as visiting guests.

While the hotel’s amenities remain unchanged in the short term, the rebrand comes amid broader shifts along the Sunset Strip, where several neighborhood mainstays have shuttered. The Sun Rose’s strategy seems aimed at capturing displaced local energy while offering advisors a client-friendly hub that fuses boutique intimacy with entertainment pedigree.

The property also offers more than 7,000 square feet of event space—including a screening room and rose-pink bowling alley—paired with Wolfgang Puck catering; and membership in the I Prefer Hotel Rewards program ensures clients can earn points and elite perks during their stay.
