San Sonnea, a new Italian luxury hospitality collection from the family behind Sonnwies Dolomites, has launched with three properties spanning the Dolomites and Lake Garda.

The new collection is an expansion for the Hinteregger family, which has operated Sonnwies for more than two decades. The existing resort has been renamed San Sonnea Family Dolomites and will serve as the flagship, while two additional properties—San Sonnea Lodge Dolomites and Borgo San Sonnea Lake Garda—will broaden the portfolio into adults-only and lakeside stays.

“San Sonnea is the natural evolution of our family’s story, but it’s also our response to how we believe people want to travel today,” owner Anna Hinteregger said. “What began with Sonnwies has grown into a collection of destinations that share this philosophy, each expressed through its own character, community, and sense of place.”

San Sonnea Family Dolomites, set among forests and meadows at the foot of the Dolomites, is also undergoing an expansion this summer. New additions include an equestrian center with a stable of Haflinger horses, an indoor riding arena, and educational riding programs; a Forest Spa with an Onsen Pool, mindfulness programming and treatments incorporating Alpine botanicals; and multi-bedroom Forest Villas, which debut this month. Villa guests will also have access to the resort’s restaurants, wellness facilities and family programming.

Later this year, the company will open San Sonnea Lodge Dolomites, an adults-only property in Val di Funes. The retreat will focus on wellness, creativity and time outdoors, offering a quieter counterpart to the family-oriented flagship.

The collection’s third property, Borgo San Sonnea Lake Garda, will bring the brand south to Italy’s largest lake. Set among olive groves overlooking Lake Garda, the smaller-scale property will pair accommodations with experiences inspired by the surrounding countryside and the region’s slower pace of life.

Across the three properties, San Sonnea says it will emphasize nature, wellness, locally rooted experiences and personalized service, while allowing each hotel to retain a distinct identity tied to its setting.

“No matter which San Sonnea destination guests choose, they can expect the same thoughtful, deeply personal hospitality and attentive service that has always been at the heart of our family’s approach to welcoming travelers,” Hinteregger said.
