Sofitel New York has finished a top-to-bottom renovation that brings its French-inspired design and Manhattan setting into a clearer, more cohesive balance. The renovation touches nearly every part of the hotel—from its 398 accommodations to its public spaces, event venues, and newly conceived suite collection—bringing the U.S. flagship in line with the company’s broader global refresh.
The redesign carries through a contemporary Art Deco thread, a shared aesthetic language between Paris and New York that the hotel has leaned on since opening. That inspiration is strongest in the new lobby, now defined by metal screens, deep green walls, marble floors, and a coffered ceiling that doubles as a sculptural light installation. The nightly Candle Ritual, a Sofitel tradition held around the world, will remain an anchor in the space.

All guestrooms and suites have been fully rebuilt with a neutral palette, lacquered furnishings, warm lighting, and French-inspired paneling. Upper-floor rooms make the most of skyline views, while marble bathrooms feature rain showers and amenities from Balmain and Diptyque. The brand’s signature Sofitel Bed setup is standard across the property.
The hotel has also introduced a dedicated Suite Collection, seven newly designed accommodations that broaden its luxury footprint. The 28th-floor Penthouse spans more than 1,200 square feet; it’s a residential-feeling space wrapped in sculptural seating, geometric patterns, and a circular marble soaking tub. Two additional terrace suites—with sweeping views of the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings—bring the rare commodity of private outdoor space to Midtown.

The property’s new Bar & Bistro, Social 45, is now the social hub. Open from morning through late evening, it blends French classics with New York-leaning comfort dishes, alongside a playful cocktail list. The forthcoming outdoor café is slated for spring 2026 and aims to extend the room’s energy onto 44th Street. Mornings are anchored by La Haute Croissanterie, the hotel’s elevated pastry program that reinterprets the classic croissant with seasonal and local ingredients.
Upstairs, refreshed meeting and event spaces—including the Paris Ballroom and seven flexible rooms—carry through the updated design language with sculptural details, bold lighting, and city views. With this renovation, the property enters its next chapter as a more clearly defined flagship at a moment when Sofitel is investing heavily across North America.
