Nick Jones, the founder of Soho House, is opening his first independent hotel since stepping down as the company’s chief executive in 2022. St. Clement, at 180 The Thames near the Strand, will begin welcoming overnight guests on September 24, following a soft launch this summer.
The hotel has 90 rooms and 15 River Lofts, including a two-bedroom duplex penthouse with views across the Thames. The lofts offer open kitchens, living areas and private terraces, while guest rooms include complimentary soft drinks and snacks. Standard rooms start around $1,000 a night, according to WSJ. Magazine.
Jones has taken a relaxed approach to arrival: Instead of a conventional reception counter, guests receive their keys at a low desk in the lobby before being shown to their rooms. Alex Eagle and Sophie Hodges of Eagle + Hodges worked with Jones on the interiors, combining bespoke furniture, vintage pieces and natural materials. “He knew we had to do something new, that wasn’t derivative but more eclectic,” Eagle told WSJ. Magazine.

Food and drink will be a substantial part of the hotel’s appeal: Café Clement serves breakfast through dinner seven days a week, with a menu developed by chef Danny Bohan, formerly of London’s River Cafe. Bobbi’s Bar stays open until 3 a.m., and Lunette, a rooftop restaurant from chef Florence Knight, is scheduled to open this autumn.
Also planned for autumn is a three-level health club developed in partnership with Cleveland Clinic and Rebase. Its facilities are expected to include treatment rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, a steam room, an infrared sauna, and an 80-foot indoor pool overlooking the river.
St. Clement occupies part of the 1970s building at 180 The Thames, which also houses creative businesses and apartments for sale.
