Marriott International has signed an agreement with PHC Queenstown Limited to bring the St. Regis brand to Queenstown, New Zealand, with a new-build luxury hotel expected to open in late 2027.
The project will be the first St. Regis property in New Zealand and Marriott’s first hotel in Queenstown. The property is planned for a prominent corner site in the town center, positioned with views of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables mountain range—two of the destination’s defining landmarks.
The hotel is expected to include 145 guestrooms and suites. Plans also call for several of the brand’s standard food and beverage venues, including The Drawing Room, The St. Regis Bar, and an all-day dining restaurant, as well as dedicated event space.
“Securing a luxury presence in Queenstown has been a strategic priority for Marriott, and we’re thrilled to soon establish the iconic St. Regis brand in such an exceptional destination,” said Richard Crawford, the vice president of hotel development for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific at Marriott International. “Queenstown attracts more than 2 million visitors annually, making it ideal for a world-class luxury hotel.”
Wellness facilities are expected to include a St. Regis Spa with hydrothermal amenities and a dedicated relaxation lounge, as well as an indoor heated pool and fitness center. As with other St. Regis properties, the hotel will also offer the brand’s Butler Service, which includes packing and unpacking, garment pressing, and in-room beverage or wake-up arrangements.
The development is being led by PHC Queenstown Limited, part of a portfolio controlled by the Pandey family. The group currently operates or is developing around 30 hotels across New Zealand and has previously partnered with Marriott on other projects.

“We are incredibly excited about this development, which will bring to New Zealand—and specifically Queenstown—a new level of luxury accommodation and services,” said PHC managing director Prakash Pandey. “This is our third property with Marriott International and is part of an ongoing, strategic and growing relationship.”
Founded in New York in 1904, St. Regis now includes more than 65 hotels and resorts worldwide. The Queenstown project is Marriott’s third signed St. Regis development in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific region.
