Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has named Tim Churchmack as its new resort manager, marking the next chapter for one of Ubud’s most distinctive luxury properties. Churchmack, a longtime Four Seasons leader with a reputation for nurturing strong teams, steps into the role after more than a decade with the brand.
Churchmack began his career in special education before joining Four Seasons Hotel Chicago in 2010. He’s held subsequent roles at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago (formerly a Four Seasons), Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara, and Four Seasons Resort Nevis.
At Sayan, he inherits one of the most celebrated resorts in the portfolio. The property’s setting—suspended above the Ayung Valley, reached by a footbridge that leads to a lotus pond—is as much a calling card as its service culture. For more than 25 years, the John Heah-designed retreat has blended jungle surroundings, riverside seclusion, and cultural immersion, helping shape Bali’s modern luxury landscape.
That legacy now falls under Churchmack’s direction as the resort continues to refresh and refine its programming. Recent updates include the evolution of the Sacred River Spa, known for treatments rooted in Balinese philosophy, and experiences such as the “Sacred Nap,” where guests sway in suspended hammocks overlooking rice fields. With 42 pool villas and 18 suites embedded into the terraced landscape, the resort has long been an anchor of high-end Ubud travel—and twice earned the top spot on Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Hotel list.
