Meliá Hotels International is continuing the growth of its lifestyle brand ZEL with the launch of ZEL Cozumel, the brand’s first property in Mexico and second in the Americas.
Set to open in fall 2026 following a comprehensive renovation and repositioning of the existing Meliá Cozumel, the 209-room all-inclusive resort marks another step in ZEL’s international expansion, the hospitality brand created in partnership with tennis legend Rafael Nadal. The opening follows the debut of ZEL Punta Cana in 2025 and further strengthens the brand’s Caribbean footprint.
Located along a 1,000-foot stretch of beach on Cozumel’s northern coast, the resort is positioned just minutes from both the airport and downtown San Miguel. Accommodations will include guestrooms and suites with garden, ocean-view, and oceanfront options, along with a limited collection of Casa ZEL suites, the brand’s premium accommodation category. Design throughout the property draws on Mediterranean influences, with natural materials, warm tones, and open, light-filled spaces intended to evoke the feel of a private coastal home.

Planned dining venues include an international buffet, Volcán, a grill-focused restaurant inspired by traditional Spanish asadors, and Parda Beach Club, a beachfront venue combining Mediterranean flavors with a more relaxed Caribbean atmosphere.
Wellness facilities will include two pools, a Training Studio, a Fitness Studio for group classes, and the AUA Spa, which will offer massages, facials, and body treatments. Programming is expected to focus on activities such as yoga, meditation, and group fitness experiences designed to encourage guest interaction.

The resort’s location also provides easy access to many of Cozumel’s most popular attractions, including the shops and restaurants of San Miguel, the Punta Sur Ecological Park, and the San Gervasio archaeological site. Advisors working with active travelers may also find appeal in Cozumel’s growing calendar of endurance events, including Oceanman Cozumel, Ironman 70.3 Cozumel, GFNY Cozumel, and Ironman Cozumel.
With its combination of all-inclusive convenience, wellness-focused programming and lifestyle-driven positioning, ZEL Cozumel adds another option for travelers seeking a more active and social resort experience in the Mexican Caribbean.
