Savannah’s historic squares, Mongolia’s nomadic traditions, and the remote islands of the Marquesas are among the destinations on Ignacio Maza’s “Where to Travel in 2027” list, unveiled this week at Signature Travel Network’s annual Owners’ Meeting in San Antonio.
The network’s senior advisor selected 10 places that offer distinctive cultural experiences, opportunities to explore beyond familiar itineraries, and, in some cases, improved access. The selections reflect Maza’s destination expertise rather than a ranking based on bookings or search traffic.
“The goal of this list is to encourage advisors and travelers to widen their perspectives and consider destinations they may not have previously explored,” Maza said in the announcement.
During his presentation, he encouraged advisors to keep finding fresh ways to introduce perennial favorites while expanding their clients’ options. “We have to be thinking about new destinations and new places,” he said.
Here are his picks for the year ahead:

Savannah, Georgia
Savannah offers a domestic option for travelers interested in history, architecture, and food. Founded in 1733, the city has 22 historic squares, each providing a different setting for exploring its neighborhoods.
Maza highlighted its early city planning and architectural character, while the destination’s contemporary dining scene adds another reason to linger. For clients who enjoy discovering a city on foot, Savannah combines substantial history with an approachable pace.

Atlantic Canada
Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island offer an expansive itinerary of coastal landscapes, seafood, and cultural heritage. Maza highlighted the Bay of Fundy’s dramatic tides, Newfoundland’s Iceberg Alley, and hiking in Gros Morne National Park. The region also appealed to him for its opportunities to explore with fewer crowds.
For a distinctive stay, he singled out Fogo Island Inn, a Signature partner property, as a highlight.

Colombia
Maza encouraged advisors to look beyond a single stop in Colombia. Cartagena’s historic streets and fortifications pair well with Magdalena River cruising, while Bogotá adds museums, restaurants, and nightlife.
“It’s about culture. It’s about restaurants. It’s about shopping,” he said of the capital, recommending its Gold Museum in particular. The country’s biodiversity and Caribbean coast give travelers further options for combining city stays with nature-focused experiences.

The Marquesas, French Polynesia
The Marquesas offer a different perspective on French Polynesia for clients already familiar with its resort islands. Maza emphasized the archipelago’s rugged landscapes, archaeological sites, and Polynesian heritage.
“I don’t want you to come here for the beach,” he told advisors. “I want you to come here for the culture. I want you to come here for the landscapes, for the people.” Exploring these remote islands requires thoughtful planning, with sea travel an important part of reaching and experiencing the archipelago.

South Australia
Adelaide provides a starting point for a trip that combines wine country, wildlife, and the outback. Maza highlighted the Barossa Valley, the Flinders Ranges, and Coober Pedy, where underground buildings offer a response to the desert heat.
Kangaroo Island adds wildlife encounters and coastal scenery. Among the accommodations he recommended were Southern Ocean Lodge, Mount Lofty House and Sequoia Lodge, giving advisors several options for building a varied luxury itinerary.

Mongolia
Mongolia appeals to travelers seeking wide-open landscapes and encounters with enduring nomadic traditions. Maza described stays in traditional gers, visits to Buddhist monasteries, and exploration of the Gobi Desert as experiences that set the destination apart.
He also recommended the Altai region’s eagle-hunting culture for fall visitors. His presentation emphasized the appeal of experiencing a way of life that can feel far removed from clients’ usual travel routines.

Bhutan
Bhutan’s cultural sites and mountain landscapes remain central to its appeal, with the restored Trans Bhutan Trail offering another way to explore.
Travelers can walk selected sections rather than undertake the full route, pairing time on the trail with visits to places such as Punakha Dzong and the cliffside Tiger’s Nest monastery. Maza urged advisors to consider 2027 ahead of a planned new airport, which is expected to open in late 2028 and increase visitor access.

Morocco’s Mediterranean Region
For travelers who have visited Marrakech or want a different introduction to Morocco, Maza recommended the country’s north. Tangier offers international history and a coastal setting, while Chefchaouen’s blue streets and Tetouan’s UNESCO-listed medina provide contrasting stops.
Hiking in the Rif Mountains and time at Tamuda Bay can round out the itinerary. Maza highlighted Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay and Fairmont Tazi Palace Tangier as accommodation options for Signature advisors.

Sardinia, Italy
Sardinia combines Mediterranean beaches with a history that rewards exploration inland. Maza highlighted the Costa Smeralda, ancient stone towers known as nuraghe, and small towns associated with the island’s Blue Zone longevity traditions.
Local food and the legacies of successive cultures add depth to a beach-focused trip. For luxury stays, he pointed to Baglioni Resort Sardinia in San Teodoro and Romazzino, a Belmond Hotel.

Madeira Islands, Portugal
Madeira offers volcanic peaks, sea cliffs, fortified wines, and walking trails alongside irrigation channels known as levadas. Maza recommended spending time in Funchal, exploring Santana’s traditional houses, and visiting Porto Moniz’s natural swimming pools. Nearby Porto Santo adds an option for a beach stay. His hotel recommendations included Reid’s Palace, a Belmond Hotel, and Savoy Palace, with the island offering enough variety for an itinerary that balances activity and relaxation.
Maza’s complete list will appear in Signature’s Ultimate Experiences magazine, with a digital edition scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026 and print publication in the first quarter of 2027. An accompanying advisor sales guide is also in development to help members match these destinations with interested clients.
