Aman is expanding its Caribbean portfolio with the announcement of Amantaru, a new luxury resort and collection of residences planned for Puerto Rico’s southwest coast. Located in Cabo Rojo, Amantaru will mark the luxury hospitality brand’s first property in Puerto Rico and its fourth Caribbean destination.
The resort will be part of Esencia, a new private community spanning more than 2,000 acres along the island’s coastline. Positioned on a hillside overlooking a secluded beach and bordering a protected nature reserve and wildlife refuge, the property will emphasize privacy, wellness and a connection to its natural surroundings.
Designed by architect Marwan Al-Sayed of MASASTUDIO, Amantaru will mark the firm’s second collaboration with Aman, following Amangiri in Utah. The resort’s architecture will draw inspiration from Puerto Rico’s historic forts and coastal landscapes, incorporating natural, locally sourced materials, open spaces, and unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea.

Planned amenities include an Aman Spa and Wellness Center, a beach club, racquet sports courts, and several dining venues. Guests will also have access to Esencia’s broader recreational offerings, including two championship golf courses, private beach and equestrian clubs, scenic walking trails, and boating experiences.
For travelers arriving by private aircraft, a nearby airport will feature a 6,700-foot runway and private hangars, providing direct access to the destination.

Alongside the hotel, Amantaru will offer a limited collection of fully serviced residences ranging from three to eight bedrooms.
Also designed by MASASTUDIO, the residences will feature spacious indoor and outdoor living areas, with architecture intended to complement the surrounding landscape and maximize views of the coastline and sunsets.
Residence owners will have access to the resort’s facilities and signature Aman services. Developed by Three Rules Capital in partnership with Reuben Brothers, Amantaru is part of Aman’s broader expansion across the Americas.
The announcement follows the opening of Amanvari in Los Cabos, Mexico, and comes as the brand prepares to introduce additional properties, including Aman Miami Beach, Aman Beverly Hills, and Amancaya in Exuma, The Bahamas.
An opening date for Amantaru has not yet been announced.
