Capella Hotel Group is refreshing its leadership bench with three key appointments that reinforce the brand’s ambitions in Asia’s most competitive luxury markets. The group has tapped Paul Jackson for Capella Singapore, Andy Lio for Capella at Galaxy Macau, and Roman Angulo for the soon-to-open Patina Tianjin.
At Capella Singapore, Jackson takes the reins of a flagship property that continues to set the brand’s tone globally. His career includes a nearly 10-year tenure as general manager of Claridge’s in London, where he oversaw an extensive renovation. He also brings senior leadership experience from Mandarin Oriental properties in Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Sanya.
In Macau, Lio’s promotion at Capella at Galaxy Macau places a seasoned operator in charge of one of the group’s most ambitious launches. Lio has nearly two decades in the enclave’s luxury sector, most recently as AVP of hotel operations at Raffles at Galaxy Macau, where he helped secure Forbes Five-Star status. His pre-opening experience with Galaxy Macau and The Ritz-Carlton makes him well placed to guide Capella’s launch in the market.
Looking ahead, Angulo has been appointed general manager of Patina Tianjin, the first mainland China outpost for Capella’s younger lifestyle-leaning brand. Formerly resort manager at Capella Singapore, Angulo brings a résumé that spans Four Seasons, Rosewood, and Mandarin Oriental across Beijing, Hong Kong, and Europe. The Tianjin property, scheduled to open in 2026, will occupy 17 restored heritage buildings in the city’s Italian district.
Taken together, the appointments highlight Capella’s strategy of anchoring its growth in leadership with a blend of pedigree and local insight. Singapore and Macau remain bellwethers for the brand, while Tianjin marks an important step in extending Patina beyond its Maldives debut.
