Chapter Chianti will open in June in Tuscany’s Chianti region, the second hotel in the Chapter Italia portfolio after Rome’s 2019 launch. The 82-room hotel is located in Cavriglia, set within a restored 16th-century village set across 99 acres of countryside, around 45 minutes from both Florence and Siena.

Developer Marco Cilia leads the project, aiming to expand the brand beyond its urban origins with a rural counterpart that maintains a design-led identity. The property retains its original stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and the historic village’s structural framework, while introducing contemporary interiors by South African designer Tristan Du Plessis of Studio A. The design approach favors clean lines, sculptural lighting, and modern Italian furnishings, positioned against the preserved architecture.

“After the success of Chapter Roma, we wanted to take the Chapter philosophy beyond the city and show that contemporary design and authentic Italian hospitality can thrive anywhere,” said Cilia. “Tuscany has incredible countryside resorts, but many felt too quiet, too expected. We set out to create a place where you can unwind completely or let your hair down, sometimes both in the same day. Chapter Chianti is about giving guests the freedom to experience Tuscany their way, whether that’s a sunrise yoga session or dancing after sunset.”

Culinary operations will be led by Michelin-starred chef Vincenzo Martella, who will oversee three restaurants and bars on the property. The main restaurant, Osso, focuses on Tuscan meat traditions with a contemporary approach, while additional venues include a poolside bar and a central bar influenced by New York-style energy. A casual food truck concept, Hey Güey, will also return from Chapter Roma.

Wellness is centered around a 5,000-square-foot concept, F.A.R.M. Social, designed as a communal environment rather than a traditional retreat space. Facilities include steam rooms, saunas, salt pools, hydrotherapy circuits, a dry hammam, and a jacuzzi, all set within a travertine-led design scheme.

Programming extends across the estate and the surrounding countryside, with activities including horseback riding through vineyards, truffle hunting, olive oil harvesting, and mountain biking. On-site amenities also include padel courts and a fitness center, as well as partnerships with local farms.

Art remains integrated throughout the property, including works by artist Kokekit, whose installations appear across guest rooms and public spaces. A large-scale piece is positioned beneath the main swimming pool, visible from above as guests swim.

“The challenge was creating something bold and modern in a region defined by tradition, without losing its soul,” said Du Plessis. “We wanted the old and new to coexist in dialogue. The result is a space where the passage of time is visible but not frozen, a historic village transformed into something radically current, yet timeless.”

In addition to the main hotel, the property includes a standalone five-bedroom villa, The Mansion, designed for private group stays with its own pool and gardens.

Chapter Chianti is scheduled to open in June, with rates starting around $465 per night.
