Kimpton has officially opened Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas in Paradise Valley, Arizona, bringing a newly rebuilt desert resort to one of the state’s most established luxury enclaves. The property is Kimpton’s second hotel in Arizona and follows a $42 million transformation of the former Scottsdale Plaza Resort by Trinity Investments and Partners Group.

The opening phase introduces 260 accommodations—224 guestrooms and 36 casitas—as part of a larger 404-key plan that will expand later this year with villas and residences. Set across 40 acres between Camelback and Mummy Mountains, the resort is just minutes from Old Town Scottsdale while keeping a quieter, more residential feel than many properties in the area. Trail access to Camelback Mountain and easy connections to Scottsdale’s dining and arts scene shape much of its positioning.

Design was led by the Paris-based studio Saguez & Dash, with a layout that guides guests naturally from arrival spaces into gardens and pool areas, keeping the mountain views front and center. A large textile installation by artist Mariella Motilla runs through the lobby and public spaces, while the grounds feature native landscaping and a network of shaded courtyards. Six pools are spread across the property, including the multi-level Canyon Pools designed for both families and longer day use.

Wellness plays a visible role in the guest experience. Spa Miralina includes five treatment rooms, outdoor massage pavilions, a sauna, a cold plunge, and a full-service salon. Fitness programming happens in a dedicated pavilion that opens onto an outdoor terrace, with classes developed alongside fitness and dance coach Jordan Hill. Across the grounds, a series of permanent outdoor installations, called the Desert Reveries, adds quieter moments to the landscape, from wind-driven sound pieces to stargazing structures designed for nighttime use.

Dining is centered on Hecho Libre, the signature restaurant from Chef Wes Avila, whose menus draw on Baja and Sonoran flavors. Day-to-day culinary operations across the resort are led by Executive Chef Stephen Jones, covering poolside dining at Cima, in-room service, and event catering. A café program focused on artisan coffee and local pastries anchors the morning experience.

For meetings and events, Miralina offers more than 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, including the new Horizon Pavilion, a glass-enclosed venue with mountain views, as well as lawns and terraces designed for everything from corporate gatherings to private celebrations.

“Miralina is offering a new definition of luxury for the Sonoran,” said Colm O’Brien, the general manager of Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas. “At Miralina, we want our guests to connect with the desert on a deeper level; not through a scripted experience, but through honest access to the land and the people who know it best.”

Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas is now open, with additional villas and residences scheduled to come online later in 2026.
