Mandarin Oriental Names Philippe Kronberg General Manager of Hyde Park London

Philippe Kronberg will take on an expanded European operations role alongside leadership of the Knightsbridge flagship.

Mandarin Oriental has appointed Philippe Kronberg as general manager of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, alongside a newly expanded role as area vice president of operations across the brand’s key European hotels. The appointment took effect Jan. 12.

In addition to the Knightsbridge property, Kronberg will support operations at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair and Mandarin Oriental Paris, as well as two properties newly under Mandarin Oriental management: Mandarin Oriental Lutetia and Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam. The Amsterdam hotel officially began operating under the Mandarin Oriental flag on Jan. 14.

Kronberg joins Mandarin Oriental following more than three decades in luxury hospitality, with senior leadership experience spanning operations, finance, and commercial strategy. Most recently, he served as resort general manager for Shangri-La in Muscat, overseeing a multi-property beachfront destination comprising three hotels and more than 640 rooms. Prior roles include general manager of Shangri-La Sydney, with regional oversight across Australasia and leadership assignments in Turkey, China, Thailand, and Brisbane.

Kronberg, a French and Australian national fluent in English, French, and German, began his career at London’s Ritz Hotel after completing hotel management training at Les Roches and later earned an Executive MBA from AGSM in Australia.
