The Red Sea Edition has officially opened as the first hotel on Shura Island, introducing Edition’s brand of modern, quietly confident luxury to Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious tourism development. The debut marks the second Edition in the Kingdom, following last year’s Jeddah opening, part of the brand’s growing role in shaping Saudi Arabia’s evolving hospitality landscape.
Developed in partnership with Red Sea Global, the 240-room resort sits along a private beachfront overlooking the Shura Links golf course and the Red Sea. The island will eventually feature a cluster of hotels, marinas, and leisure experiences central to the country’s Vision 2030 plan, which aims to position the region as a global hub for regenerative, high-end tourism.

The property’s design, by Rockwell Group, embraces its desert-to-sea setting through rammed-earth walls, coral stone floors, and oak detailing. A series of low-slung pavilions mirror coral formations and frame views across the water, while interiors balance Edition’s signature minimalism with a tactile warmth drawn from natural materials and neutral tones. Suites with private plunge pools and beach access blur the line between indoors and out.
Sustainability is built into the project’s foundation: The resort operates entirely on solar power and forms part of Red Sea Global’s ecologically restorative model, which limits development to less than one percent of the destination’s total area.

Culinary offerings include Central, an all-day venue serving inventive New American fare, and Jiwa Beach Club, where Indonesian chefs bring Balinese energy to a Saudi beachfront setting. Slated to open later this year, Anasa—helmed by celebrated Saudi chef Basma Elkhereiji—will present Aegean-inspired dining rooted in local sourcing. The Edition Spa, meanwhile, incorporates Omorovicza and Le Labo rituals alongside hydrothermal facilities and outdoor fitness spaces.
“The opening of The Red Sea Edition marks a significant milestone in the brand’s continued growth across the region,” said George Fleck, senior vice president and global brand leader for Edition. “As our second property in Saudi Arabia, this resort embodies the Edition ethos of crafting highly personalised spaces that feel attuned to their environment.”
