Thompson Central Park New York has named Devraj Gorsia as its general manager, with the Hyatt veteran stepping into the role on Feb. 16. The new hire places a longtime brand operator at the helm of the Midtown property, located three blocks from Central Park and within walking distance of Carnegie Hall, MoMA, and Broadway.
Gorsia brings roughly two decades of experience within Hyatt, beginning with an internship at Hyatt Regency Hua Hin in Thailand while studying at Les Roches School of Hotel Management in Switzerland. Over the years, his career has spanned both urban and resort markets, including Chicago, Dubai, Atlanta, and Scottsdale. Most recently, he served as general manager of Hyatt Centric Atlanta Buckhead, overseeing day-to-day operations and team leadership at the lifestyle-forward property.
“I believe hospitality is about evolution—of places, of people, and of ideas,” said Gorsia. “I’m passionate about creating environments where teams feel empowered, guests feel a true sense of belonging, and every stay feels intentional rather than transactional.”
The appointment comes as Thompson Central Park continues to position itself as one of Hyatt’s lifestyle-focused flagships in New York, blending a central Midtown location with residential-style accommodations and an active programming calendar. The hotel’s Upper Stories Suites remain a defining component of the offering, featuring dedicated lounge access and views toward Central Park, while on-site amenities include Exhale Spa and established dining venues such as Burger Joint and Parker’s.
Operationally, the property sits within Hyatt’s broader Thompson Hotels portfolio, which has expanded steadily in recent years across North America and key international markets. Gorsia’s background in multiple global cities signals a continued emphasis on experiential hospitality and cultural alignment within the brand’s New York presence.
Originally from India, Gorsia has spent much of his career working across culturally diverse destinations, an experience that aligns with the hotel’s location at the crossroads of Midtown’s performing arts and luxury retail corridors.
