Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal has entered a new chapter with the appointment of Juan Gonzalez Izquierdo as general manager, following the completion of the resort’s multi-year transformation.

Izquierdo, a hospitality veteran with two decades of luxury experience spanning three continents, steps into the role after leading Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead to consecutive Forbes Four-Star ratings and top guest-satisfaction rankings in North America. At Pedregal, he’s charged with carrying forward the legacy of one of Mexico’s most lauded beach resorts as it reintroduces itself with refreshed rooms, new culinary venues, and a renewed focus on guest experience.

The renovation, finalized this October, touched nearly every corner of the property—from redesigned guest rooms, suites, casitas, and villas to an updated adults-only pool and spa salon. The overhaul also expanded the resort’s F&B portfolio, adding Agave Study at Peacock Alley, the coffee-forward Neutral Coffee Lab, and Travesía, a nine-course tasting experience dedicated to Mexico’s most beloved dish, the taco. Don Manuel’s, the resort’s signature restaurant, also emerged with a refined design and menu direction.

“With a deep appreciation for the resort’s history and a visionary approach to luxury hospitality, Juan is uniquely positioned to lead one of our most iconic resorts to its next era,” said Valeria Nowotny, Hilton’s vice president of operations for the Caribbean and Latin America.

Born in Málaga, Spain, Izquierdo began his career in London before advancing through leadership posts at luxury properties in New York, Barcelona, and London. At Conrad New York Downtown, he helped the hotel secure its first Connie Award and Forbes Four-Star recognition. A graduate of Endicott College in Massachusetts and Les Roches Swiss Hotel Management School, he now brings that cross-cultural fluency to Los Cabos, where he plans to “enhance the guest experience and foster a culture of excellence that celebrates the renovated Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal.”

The appointment comes as the resort looks to build on its renewed positioning within Hilton’s top-tier luxury portfolio. For travel professionals tracking the evolution of marquee properties in Mexico’s high-end market, Izquierdo’s arrival signals continuity—with the added energy of a leader who’s already proven adept at translating design updates into measurable performance.
