Internova Travel Group is expanding its Green Circle sustainability initiative with a new Arctic educational expedition designed to deepen travel advisors’ expertise in expedition cruising and responsible tourism.

Developed in partnership with Atlas Ocean Voyages, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), and Nordic destination specialist NORDIC STAR, the program brought luxury travel advisors to Norway and the Arctic for an immersive look at how sustainability is being integrated across multiple parts of the travel experience. The initiative comes as demand for expedition cruising continues to grow among affluent travelers, creating a need for advisors who can confidently guide clients through increasingly complex itineraries and sustainability considerations.

During the journey, advisors met with Atlas Ocean Voyages’ leadership to learn about responsible expedition operations and participated in educational sessions focused on Arctic conservation. The itinerary also included visits to sustainability-focused hotels in Norway curated by NORDIC STAR, as well as discussions with Scandinavian Airlines about the carrier’s ongoing sustainability initiatives. Together, the experiences were designed to provide advisors with practical knowledge they can share with clients interested in luxury adventure travel.

“Through Green Circle, we’re investing in immersive educational experiences that give advisors across our portfolio a deeper understanding of sustainable travel while strengthening the expertise they bring to clients,” said J.D. O’Hara, CEO of Internova Travel Group. “By collaborating with industry-leading partners, we’re creating educational opportunities that benefit advisors, travelers and the destinations they visit.”

The Arctic program is the second educational journey under Internova’s Green Circle initiative, which aims to integrate sustainability into advisor education, preferred partner relationships, and client engagement. According to the company, the broader program also supports Internova’s carbon neutrality efforts and its contributions to UNESCO’s World Heritage Program, which helps protect culturally and environmentally significant destinations.

For participating advisors, the value extended beyond the classroom. “Experiencing the Arctic firsthand gave me a much deeper understanding of what responsible expedition travel looks like,” said Selma Weisbein of Global Travel Collection, an Internova division. “The knowledge and perspective I gained will help me better advise clients seeking meaningful luxury experiences while making more informed travel choices.”

With more travelers seeking immersive, experience-driven journeys to remote destinations, initiatives like Green Circle aim to equip advisors with firsthand knowledge to navigate a rapidly evolving segment of the luxury travel market.
